hello blog readers.
this wknd i got drunk and went to htown. yes - you read that correctly. yes i am still going up on friday night. why? you might ask. the trush is i got drunk and am succeptible to peer pressure.
thurs night went over to will's apt to see him before he left town on friday. he's going to hike the pacific crest trail for 7 months - so it was the least i could do. while at his apt, after several glasses of red wine, he and crispin talked me into coming up to htown with them on friday afternoon. i was drunk, they're good at peer pressure, and it felt like the right thing to do.
so i busted out of work on friday around 3, they picked me up outside my office and we drove up. i hadn't been up in awhile - and boy was it cold - but it was nice to be in htown again.
i stayed with cody, sadly celeste and lingley were out of town, and we had a delightful time listening to music and catching up. i did feel old though - we went to a party at 9p and all i could think of was when will and co. lived there. it seemed strange that the house was the same (albeit much cleaner) but the people who were living there were not who i remembered. people kept guessing i was an '07 - i guess '05 doesn't come to mind really.
post 9p we went to psi u- they have the cutest puppies - a golden retriever and a yellow lab - hung out there, though the alkie from tails with kde was long gone - and then made our way over to sae for the irish themed dance party. there we encountered dan weinberg, dax and jacques - cody and i ended up playing late night pong with them - me and dax vs. cody and jacques - am happy to say we dominated. when we were finished it was 3 am or so - so cody and i walked back to sd, changed, and then went to foodstop for the most delicious chicken salad sandwich i've ever had and some mini eggs. did not have laurak to sing 'laurak is drunk' all the way, maybe next wknd - but that is what i was. at the end i had to tell cody that i couldn't see her and it was time to go to bed.
woke up early on sat and headed to the hop for breakfast before traversing main street (b/c they don't have gap in nyc). managed to find a winter hat that i had been looking for for a long time (to buy - not lost ala that mitten that fell in the snow soph winter and then was still there - though chewed up by the snowplow - when the snow melted months later. it was a v. long winter). post - practed playing pong with my bro in preparation for the invite pong tourney later that night. during this period i was def dating a leprachaun or something b/c boy was the luck coming down on my side, but we must have broken up somewhere btwn 2 and 9 b/c i couldn't hit a cup to save my life in the tourney which made my bro quite put out.
went and ran rip road - i couldn't run pine park b/c it was too soggy and wet from the snow. good run but boy did my calves hurt the next day. with the new ipod i really just want to run and run which is not conducive to the shape i'm in right now.
cody and i got dinner from mollys and got ready for the tourney. saw allie owens - looking hot with incredible abs that i myself would like to have - jason and i beat her and her partner and then lost to cody and kevin (i know - sad). in our defense, cody and kevin made it to the semis - so they were on fire or something. i took lots of awful pictures b/c kevin, while having upgraded from japanese tourist-style camera, still has a slow shutter on his digital camera. however those things are usually more fun when playing pizong.
stayed over at psi u on sat night - learned some interesting things over there - and then weinberg and i rented a car to drive back to nyc. on the way home i saw the d crew truck with the crew shells on the opposite side of 91. made me a little nostalgic for sure.
so good times all around - it was nice to say 'see you on friday' though. friday night is the sd open party - looking forward to that - and must write my speech! for sat.

here's the update as far as i know:
1. elise got into harvard school of public health and will be moving to boston this summer to attend. congrats to her for her scholoraly achievement, but more for making the smart decision to move closer to us. ;-)
2. ceppos was in texas for easter - a whirlwind, cold trip but she said she enjoyed it. hope to see her this wknd. huyett and laurak may also be in attendence.
3. cody will be living with overton and blair on the east side this coming year. v. excited.
4. coleman will also be in nyc this summer, along with ariel rodman. hooray for fun people coming to the city!
5. robin is enjoying her new job which allows her to work from home. she was just in florida for a month, but promises that she will meet up with me sometime next week to catch up.
6. lingley had an interview in boston for a job (not sure what) that she most likely has if she wants it but she hasn't decided if she does yet. she looked fabulous when i saw her and looking forward to catching up with her this coming wknd.
that's all i've heard from the grapevine. hope everyone had a good easter and wish we could have rocked it out when 'since you been gone' came on in the basement. as i like to say, since you all have been gone i've been dull and a lot better behaved. let's remedy that asap. ;-)

just made a delicious black bean soup - here's the (easy) recipe for anyone looking to try out their culinary skills:>
Black Bean Soup
From
1 teaspoon olive oil
2 cups fresh salsa
2 15-ounce cans black beans, drained and rinsed
2 cups chicken or vegetable broth
1 16-ounce can refried black beans
1/2 cup sour cream (optional)
1/4 cup fresh cilantro, roughly chopped (optional)
Heat the oil in a saucepan or large pot over medium heat. Add the salsa and cook, stirring occasionally, for 4 minutes. Add the refried beans, black beans, and broth and bring to a simmer. Cook until warmed through, about 5 minutes. Ladle into bowls. Top with some of the remaining salsa and the sour cream and cilantro (if using).
