sunday night
apparently this is blog post number 976. kind of crazy that i've been blogging that long. maybe i'll see if i can make it 1,000 in synch with the 6 year anniversary of the blog in december. but i digress.
sitting here in my apartment watching the patriots play the jets on sunday night football. never really was a big sports watching fan - always preferred to play myself and i get very nervous for my team when i watch - but have gradually gotten into professional football in the last year and now i really enjoy it. it certainly makes sundays a lot better to have something to look forward to at the end of the weekend and even if the patriots aren't playing that well i can still enjoy some beers and wings and camaraderie while watching at a bar.
had a pretty low key weekend - have not left my apt all day and i'm kind of okay with that. had 'fun people who like hanging out' karaoke on friday night and a pit stop at the joshua tree to close out the night. took care of some errands yesterday, and then headed down to the canal room in tribeca (aka TRIangle Below CAnal) to see the 80s cover band rubix kube for my brother's 24th birthday. always enjoy 80s music but it was wicked hot and wicked crowded - remind me to get a table next time. or just close down the j tree. managed to lose my credit card despite not being all that drunk. #typical.
most of my thoughts lately have revolved around plans for the end of the year and the fact i can hardly believe another year is coming to a close. also realizing that a year really isn't a very long time in the grand scheme of things. a good thing to keep in mind.
the holiday season begins in earnest tomorrow with our work team dinner. in the city next weekend and then heading home to the cape on tuesday night for tday. looking ahead to the d club of nyc holiday party and the culmination of my volunteering project, and then tay tay's wedding in miami the weekend before christmas. attempting to step up my gym workouts to do my bridesmaid's dress justice - we'll see how that goes. ideally will be working remote/on vacation between xmas and new years, so lots to take care of before i leave nyc for 10 days at the end of the year.
all in all, feeling pretty good about things - work, life, where i'm at at this point. 'too much to see waiting in front of me and i know that i just can't go wrong'. :)

ruminations
"I used to feel so alone in the city. All those gazillions of
people and then me, on the outside. Because how do
you meet a new person? I was stunned by this for many
years. And then I realized, you just say, 'Hi.'
They may ignore you. Or you may marry
them. And that possibility is worth that one word." Augusten Burroughs
new york can be a difficult place to describe. never has a city of so many paradoxes existed. there are moments i feel this indescribably deep love for it. and then moments and days and months where i can barely breathe here, where i want to run screaming from my own skin.
all new yorkers know you must constantly flee this place in order to sustain and cultivate your love for it.
both from so-i-feel. amen.

these are my confessions
i know you all (all 3 of you) must be asking yourselves, so ms lyon, why haven't you posted recently? i'm not entirely sure, but i know a lot of it is due to my new lego harry potter iphone game and my recent discovery of the hbo series 'true blood'. we'll take these one at a time.
