today's post title comes from my mom - jennifer swan - who is a kindergarden assistant at an elementary school. combine her in-depth knowledge of children's rhymes, songs and books with my family's inane ability to quote stuff and you get a lot of catch phrases at 474 craigville beach road. the other one we like, in honor of the holiday, is 'i'm not afraid, there is no need, he's just a grown-up pumpkin seed' in reference to a jack-o-lantern. =)
with the closing of october comes the beginning of nov and charlo's bday! happy day friend! may all your wishes come true.
today was a bit trying. here, in the words of the naked gun, is how i currently feel:
'it's a fourth and fifteen and you're looking at a full-court press.'yeah. sigh. not good. everyone's out of the office this week so i'm holding down the fort. on top of it all, had horrendous experience of being invited to a classical music concert by awk 50+ yr old d-wannabe. this guy is someone i've met at the d club - he went to brown but hangs out at the d club for some unknown reason. have been polite to him when we've met - as i like to tell my mother i was well brought-up, but i was certainly not expecting to be blitzed out of the blue and invited out.
'like a blind man at an orgy, i was going to have to feel my way through'
charlo ventured that perhaps it was okay - maybe i could get a free dinner out of it - but there really is no way to make this okay. 1. i hate classical music. 2. he's weird. 3. HE'S FIFTY YEARS OLD. what makes him think asking out 23-yr olds is a good idea? and the worst part was when i blitzed back non-commital polite decline he responded that 'he hoped i could accept his invitation in the future.' sorry friend. if i hadn't already signed up for this match.com biznass i would have done so today. immediately. have reached a new low. (or is it high?)
no real news to report. the week drags on. in the process of applying for jobs and filling out dating profiles one certainly has a lot of time for reflection on one's positive and negative qualities. so far i'm managing to stay on the positive side the majority of the time but you can't help but wonder how long i can keep this up. oh well. know thy self right?
