the one thing i love about gmail is its search capability, which, unlike folders, leads to some very random browsing. while looking for another blitz that apparently shared some key words with a set of meeting minutes, i found the below gem from the 05 sophomore summer:
"so, hulia, unlike the rest of us, was stone cold sober and as a result, these minutes are the ideal of what mtgs minutes should be. unfortunately, that is not what we prefer - we prefer jumbled up hilarity. fortunately, i was in a v. wrecked state so i will do my best to improvise.
first off - there was a v. poor showing for mtgs. those who were there had to drink twice as much to make up for the rest of you. speak to karla, ilana or myself if you are interested in the effects of 'taking one for sd' when it involves tequila shots and other assorted 'left-over' (read: drink up!) alcohol"
thankfully boxa was not stone cold sober the entire time we were in puerto rico. though she clearly doesn't need any potvaliance to make her points: she has no qualms calling things as they are, especially if she is able to work in the word "bucko."
in any event, finding that first blitz inspired me to dig through other meeting minutes. i found this clip from Lindsay Clayton 04's minutes that, had all the people below been present at our vacation, would almost be a complete caption of all of the non-drinking pictures we'd taken:
"PLEDGE WALK-OFF Highlights:
(a) Robin worked the pretzel
(b) Alette perfected the backward platapus slide
(c) Pryor mastered the drunken shimmy
(d) Whitney learned nothing from last week. Number one, it is painful to pull your underwear out of your pants. Number two, don't you know you should always go front to back, not back to front? No sense risking a UTI!"
in what is perhaps a self-fulfilling prophecy, we are growing older but not up. though i am inspired by Clayton's example in referring to pong as "ale-tennis" in her WASP minutes. and of course, lyon did take the advice about shining the pearls.
