model behavior

morning friends!

a couple tidbits - had dinner last night with zana and rosi - zana is in town on spring break from law school - she graduates this coming june and has a job in san fran lined up. she said it's nice to be back on the east coast and relax from the pressures of school - and hopefully i'll see her on sat as well! rosi, (our crew coach from freshman year) we discovered, literally works on the same street corner as my building in midtown. how crazy is that. we've both been with our companies for a year and we hadn't yet run into each other. oh manhattan. how you taunt us. but all joking and logistics aside, she's doing well. loves her job doing energy management (all that green stuff you hear about all the time), even if she doesn't like commuting 2 hours each way because she lives in new haven. she's trying to figure out what her next steps are, but she'll prob be down here for another year. gus is doing well, though getting old (he's 8!), and enjoys having a yard to play in out in the suburbs. i have to say, it was so nice to see them both - and really nice to have an adult relationship with rosi after all these years - though i still think of her as our coach with all the answers who will get us out of a sticky pinch that we have somehow stumbled into. there were a lot of those freshman year. haha. in the words of boxa, they haven't seemed to hold us back.

also time for a shameless plug/self-call. am running for the class of '05 rep to d's class council and if you haven't already, please consider voting for me. all you d folks should have gotten an email with the details, and thanks to those of you who already did vote for me - spread the word that i'm running and maybe tell your friends they should vote too. did hear from a few people who came out to tell me they'd voted for me - swanny popped up on gchat to say hi - she's been trucking along out west - and not often enough at her desk for regular gchat usage - but thanks for the vote and i'm always on gchat if you want to catch me/are bored. haha.

found out yesterday that my sister is moving to maui to work for the four seasons. wtf? that's a long way away from the east coast. on the plus side, it will be nice to visit!

my boss is about to have a baby - his wife is that is - which means imminently he will be out of the office for two weeks. not entirely sure how that's going to go - stay tuned!

crappy 'spring' weather continues in nyc. walking through times square yesterday i saw a fendi ad shoot. the model was balanced on top of two wooden 'f's that make up the logo in the middle of times square with the wind blowing in stilettos. maybe modeling is not all it's cracked up to be. 'here model - stand precariously in the middle of times square and look like a million people aren't watching you waiting for you to fall.' nbd kids. nbd.

tuesday on the island

hello friends!

have been told to update this - and since prob will be a bit of a lag time btwn internet options when we move this saturday - i figured i'd better.

first - my boss downloaded 'guitar hero' to the mobile phone that we use to test mobile concepts. for those of you that don't know - my job is to know/research/talk the latest in mobile marketing/advertising/selling/content. ergo - said test phone. and playing 'guitar hero' on it is my new favorite thing. highly recommend it.

second - just went and got the keys to the new apt so we could check it out. it is as wonderful as we remembered. still quite a few things to work out before we actually can sleep in the place, but we're getting there folks, we're getting there!

third - (shameless plug) i sent in a blurb for the '05 class rep to the alumni class council board. if the powers that be actually end up putting me on a ballot, please consider voting for me. after all, you all seem to think that i do a decent job of disseminating information through this forum, imagine what i can do as a class rep. (end shameless plug).

fourth - lots of people coming to visit in the next couple weeks! christine will be down for my bday, as well as possibly my sister, maynard will be here at the end of march, and i heard that zana will be on the east coast as well! can't wait for kindred spirit reunions.

that's it for now. will be super glad when this moving nonsense is over, though i'm not quite sure what my life will be like post. have spent so much time and energy on this in the last month and a half that i forget what it's like to lie in bed all weekend and do nothing. however, i'm sure it will come rushing back very soon.

thought it would be an interesting exercise. and it confirms what we

i wish i could say i came up with that line -but the credit goes to reiten - who began yelling it during the st. paddy's day parade in south boston (southie).

i wanted an epic wknd - and boy did i get one. love it. LOVE IT. in boston, which i read has the second biggest st. patrick's day parade in the country (after nyc), has their parade on sunday, which meant that we rocked out on sat night and then got up and did it again on sunday. i will try to do justice to the events of the wknd.

took the train up on sat - only just made it - was at that stage of hungoverness where nothing sort of makes sense. i have no idea what i ultimately packed - i'm just going to hope that somewhere within there are business clothes. on the train sat across from a harvard '04 who worked at amex before quitting the day before to go to harvard b school in the fall. next to him was a d alum - class of '51, his daughter had been a '79. i know. everywhere i go - the d alums.

i arrive in boston - head out to cambridge where christine lives. we go to meet some people in a bar - run into some more people know from the cape - talk them into coming back to this kid's apt - where we stay all night. i actually had some green beer, corned beef and cabbage (surprisingly good!), flaming dr. pepper shots (this is a total self call, but i guess this blog is a self-call so i will tell it) someone sets up the dr. pepper shot for me and lights the 151. as i aggressively drop the thing in and chug i hear some guy in the background say to his gf, "see! that's what i want you to be like." i kid you not.

after 6 hours of drinking we were pretty much game over. i fell walking home - apparently i was like, "look out guys - it's slippery" and then wiped out. however, since i did not hit my head - i was fine.

sun morning we got up and headed to southie. southie is the irish, slightly sketch at times, area of boston - i have no idea where it is in relation to anything else in boston- i found it amusing that i was trying to coordinate all these people mtging up without any idea of where we were going or actually were. the massive parade went right by this apt we were at. the connections between guests at this party were scary - i walked in with ceppos's friend from high school who worked with one of the people who lived at the apt, and recognized someone from the cape - we used to play basketball together back in the day.

this party was pretty fabulous - more and more people just kept coming and the beer kept flowing. played a lot of flip cup, did a lot of chugging, lots of cheering and trumpet blowing as the parade went by. i discovered that i do have my gym membership until october, thanks to ceppos who was like - call them and find out the scoop. so i whipped out the phone and dialed.

i hooked up with this pretty legit kid - an '03 from bc - he had like 5 wedding invitations on his wall and told me i could be his date. i said i'd come along for the one on martha's vineyard. the fun was marred by the discovery that someone had stolen ceppos and her friends wallett. we managed to construct that it happened around 5:45. really sucky thing to have happen - apologies go out to both of them.

sadly, did not see diana at all, but i did see huyett and reiten - wonderful to see them and heavily peer pressuring them to move to nyc. how fabu would that be. planning a ragey boston wknd v. soon, however, with steger and vinithia and such. wknd wins points all around for the randomness, the steady drinking, the chugging and the laughter. just what i wanted.

hanging out here in christine's apt before i go to my mtgs in boston and then back to nyc tonight for a jam-packed wk. whirl of gaiety.

to continue in the vein of scraping code and posting video on the blog, today's video is a behind the scenes of rocketboom, which also happens to be my tv (vlog) debut!

for those of you who don't know, rocketboom is, in their own words,

currently one of the most popular videoblogs on the internet with more daily subscribers for original syndicated multimedia content than nearly any other site, including podcasts.

they have a gazillion of archived episodes, definately fun if you're looking for procrastination outlets, and the above clip has me interviewing the host in front of the map. we went behind the scenes to tape the shooting of today's episode, documentary style. so, yes, it is more than just a girl who doesn't know how to read her lines (hi diane). tee hee hee.
